Morris & Atlas creates, develops and manages hotels, restaurants and bars that provide meaning. We shape hotels, brands, spaces and programming that create genuine connections to the properties and locations they inhabit while providing heartfelt hospitality at each touch. 
Our obsession with striking the right balance between high design and risk-adjusted returns to our investors and capital partners has earnt us a reputation for developing beautiful hotels both cost effectively and quickly.

Hank Morris – Founder

A lifetime hotelier, Hank is a developer of independent, lifestyle hotels and food & beverage across the US. Over the past decade, he has overseen all aspects of design, programming, branding, entitlements, permitting, procurement, and construction management for more than 10 award-winning boutique hotels. 

Prior to founding Morris & Atlas in 2021, Hank served as the Vice President of Development for Life House Hotels, and was also an early member of the development team for NYC-based Sydell Group. His career began in luxury hotel operations, where he held roles with several independent hotel groups in the UK and Northern Ireland, as well as with Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts in Hong Kong. Hank is a graduate of Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration. 

Our Expertise

  • Our team has led the development of 13 boutique hotels and more than 20 food and beverage concepts across the US. From inception, due diligence, entitlements and capitalization through to construction management, completion and stewardship beyond, we are seasoned at managing each step of the development process through the full investment cycle. 

  • We are proud micromanagers, and touch each part of the development management process. Our team oversees and handles all components of a hotel's creation, from feasibility, entitlements, permitting, design team selection, and architectural/design oversight, all the way through to bidding, construction management, FF&E procurement, punch, pre-opening and close-out.   

  • Our hotels and restaurants are conceived and designed to provide a deep sense of place to our guests. We collaborate with the designers, architects, artists, chefs, and others who see the world the way we do, and create beautiful spaces and experiences together.                 

    We've been honored to have created a series award-winning hotels, most recently The 125-room Manchester Hotel in Lexington KY (Boutique Design Awards - Winner of Best New Global Upscale Hotel in 2023, Winner of Upscale Lobby & Upscale Guestroom; and The Hospitality Design Awards: - Winner of Best New Global Lifestyle Hotel - 2023).

  • We conceive, concept and bring to life each of our brands, hotels, restaurants and bars, leading their creative development.

  • We self-operate a select number of our hotels and restaurants, and have extensive expertise in overseeing all components of hotel and F&B operations, sales & marketing, revenue management, finance/accounting and digital strategy.

  • Any hotel or restaurant's opening is where the real work begins. We pride ourselves in being stewards of our properties throughout their investment cycles, overseeing each project's operation, financial performance, capital expenditure planning, and ultimate disposition. In addition to financial oversight, we are intensely focused on steering, evolving and maintaining the design, brand and operational principles and standards for each of our projects.
